Enzo Catellani appointed Cavaliere

Bergamo, 2 June 2025 – Enzo Catellani appointed Cavaliere by the President of the Italian Republic, Sergio Mattarella.

“Enzo Catellani, founder of Catellani & Smith – an internationally renowned brand synonymous with handcrafted Made in Italy lamps – is widely recognised for creating some of the most iconic pieces of Italian design. His works illuminate prestigious museums both in Italy and around the world. Among them, the Fil de Fer lamp – installed at the Victoria and Albert Museum in London and in the gardens of the Triennale di Milano – has been officially recognised as a work protected under copyright law for its artistic and creative value as a piece of industrial design.
Enzo Catellani has received numerous accolades, including an Honourable Mention at the Compasso d’Oro Awards, the Good Design Awards, and the Prize Designs for Modern Furniture + Lighting.
In 2007, the Municipality of Bergamo awarded him the Civic Merit of Honour for his contributions.
Catellani & Smith, in collaboration with the Department of Social Services of the Municipality of Villa di Serio, has also undertaken initiatives to support citizens in vulnerable situations by offering employment opportunities aimed at restoring dignity and fostering social reintegration.”
