Fil de Fer

Fil de Fer is a lighting fixture made of shaped, woven aluminium wire, which is lit on the inside by tiny bulbs. Designed and made by Enzo Catellani, it is the creation closest to his heart. Developed almost twenty years ago for a special commission, it was never used for that particular project and was hung up in his workshop. Each time it was switched on, it enchanted everyone with its special, magical atmosphere. Enzo Catellani decided then to continue working on it. The lamp was later placed on the market and quickly became the most iconic lighting fixture in the Catellani &amp; Smith range.

Giulietta

Thanks to battery operation and the absence of cables, the new Giulietta BE can be ‘transported’ easily anywhere. With a simple touch of the hand, Giulietta BE can be switched on and set to three different light intensities. Giulietta BE consists of a thin rod – which originates from a circular base – and a circular disc surrounding the rod, apparently without any support. The disc concealing the light source is the distinctive feature of the lamp, which is part of the “Giulietta” collection.

When Enzo Catellani began creating new lighting fixtures using the first LED circuits, the intention was to create simple, discreet, almost invisible objects, that put emphasis on the light. This is how he moved away from a rather ‘aggressive’ style towards simple minimalism.

Enzo Catellani has designed his first collection of outdoor lights for Catellani &amp; Smith in response to the trend that, over the years, has seen living spaces move outside into terraces and gardens, creating extensions of the house. 
Enzo Catellani’s main goal was to create a collection of indoor lamps suitable for outdoor installation; lighting fixtures created for the outside, but able to recreate the same warmth and atmosphere as indoor lights. 
Glass plays a starring role in this collection; glass which, before being completely cooled, is shaped by hand.

This is how were developed Syphasera, Syphasfera –  both lamps created by the designer Maurizio Quargnale in cooperation with Catellani &amp; Smith – and Syphaduepassi, which, thanks to their minimal design, integrate perfectly with the surrounding environment, as if they were part of nature itself.
