As we move towards the summer, Catellani & Smith offers an outdoor version of two of its “flagship” products, which for decades have embodied the indissoluble bond that links art and design. Perfect for both residential use and contract projects, Fil de Fer and Uomo della Luce XXL are ready to light up gardens, terraces and balconies, creating a delightfully alluring atmosphere every time.
Fil de Fer appears as a large intertwined ball of natural aluminium wire that bends and tangles, allowing itself to be shaped by the expert hands of the craftsman who invests the utmost care, time and dedication into modelling it into the characteristic spherical form. The structure is enriched with a wealth of tiny LED bulbs that light up the darkness and almost seem to turn the lamp into a heavenly body glistening light years away.
Fil de Fer can be ordered in three different diameters (50, 70 or 100 cm), and in both floor lamp and ceiling lamp versions, the former with a IP67 resin-bonded transformer housed in a black box and the latter with a chrome-plated metal base.
This tangle of light is then held aloft by Uomo della Luce XXL, a spectacular sculpture fashioned in raw iron into the shape of the tall outline of a man cradling the miracle of light in his hands. This significant, striking work measures an impressive 310 cm in height, comprising the silhouette and the tangled sphere with a diameter of 100 cm.
