From furniture to transportation, from social design to exhibition setups, including theoretical research and design studies by Italian design universities, on October 30th at the ADI Design Museum in Milan, the pre-selection opens the path toward the next Compasso d’Oro.
On October 30th, the ADI Design Museum in Milan will open an exhibition dedicated to design products selected for 2024 by the Permanent Observatory of ADI – the Association for Industrial Design. The exhibition will then be inaugurated in Rome at the WeGil Space on November 25.
This year’s selection includes 219 products, from furniture to transportation, social design to exhibition setups, along with 22 theoretical studies on design and 20 projects by students from Italian design universities, totaling 261 nominations. This is the first step towards the 2026 Compasso d’Oro, in which these products, along with those selected next year, may participate.
Ensō by Catellani & Smith has been included in the ADI Design Index 2024 volume.
“I had the fortune of spending a period of my life in Japan. There, I attended some calligraphy classes, which turned out to be a discovery within a discovery. Even today, I continue practicing that art, trying to find in those slow and precise gestures their essence. The Ensō, the symbol of the circle, particularly fascinated me for what it represents – enlightenment, completeness, the whole, the void. At that point, trying to give three-dimensionality to that gesture was a natural step for me.”
